CAREER

How about your next career ?

"Early in my career, I used to think a high salary equated to a great job. As long as I was well-compensated, I assumed I was on the right track professionally but over time, I realized a fulfilling career is about more than just making money"

As important as fair pay is, other factors bring deeper satisfaction:

  • Meaningful work aligned with my values
  • Opportunities to continuously learn and develop
  • Great colleagues who I enjoy collaborating with
  • Flexibility to pursue personal interests and recharge
  • A caring, ethical and inspiring workplace culture
  • Challenges that expand my capabilities
  • Seeing the positive impact of my contributions

The most rewarding jobs I’ve had paid decently but didn’t have the biggest paychecks. However, they uplifted me through purpose-driven work and great relationships.

So these days, while fair compensation matters, I advise focusing just as much on culture fit, growth opportunities, work-life balance, and doing work you believe in.

If you dread going to work each day or it breaches your values, no amount of money can offset that. Seek roles where you feel engaged, not just well-paid.

Of course we all have financial responsibilities. But don’t confuse a great career only with a great salary. Make sure you’re checking the other fulfillment boxes too.

At the end of each day, meaning, enjoyment and shared human values are what really count. If you have that, you’re on the right professional path, regardless of pay band.
